I used them - made my own on all hinge plates at the suggestion of my expert bodyman.
There was no problem with fit.
Where 2 metal faces meet, a gasket might prevent damage to one or the other surfaces, especially with time and maybe movement.
I suggest a thin strong rubber or non absorbing paper that keeps moisture out.
I think the look is good too.

    Is there a reason not to use the hinge gaskets, like the ones used on the hood/cowl, when installing the passenger and drivers doors?

      OK if it's a 40 you take a Punch and hammer and drive the pin's up. I start with the bottom. Oh first remove any of the door stop part's then roll down window close door then knock out pin's open... more
