Puppy bowel issues.
Tue Mar 15, 2011 11:46am

I have a 4 month old dal that i had shipped to me about a month ago. The breeder had him on Purina puppy chow which i know is not a good brand to feed. I started him on boiled chicken and rice for a few days and gradually started adding flint river ranch lamb/ millet and rice which he really seems to enjoy. I'm having a problems now with excessive thirst and he is pooping more often and when he poops he will go fine at first but then sits and strains for long periods after wards, like he still has to go but nothing is coming out. Mind you he has already gone and his stool is not runny or to hard so I'm not sure whats going on here. Could it be the food or is there another problem? I have done allot of research and was told the flint river lamb formula is an excellent food, especially for Dalmatians. Last night he had to go out 3 times.
Does anyone have a clue what might be happening?
