My puppy had the same symptoms, then was diagnosed with roundworm. Do a fecal test immediately! I did not, and it's taken us over a month to sort of get back to normal. If no worms, make sure you're not over feeding. The puppies often start going like crazy when the system is overloaded with food. In a pinch, for a short while, you may try adding plain canned pumkin to the food, or plain baby rice cereal, but not a long term solution.
Hmmmm, excessive thirst could be in response to all the protein, or also early sign of kidney disease. Watch him carefully and go to the vet if he's still like this for another 3 days...
