In SAFO Vol. 9, No.1, there is a profile of a Tu-2 bomber of the PLAAF which depicts an overall aluminum Tu-2 with black numerals and red-tipped tails. Has anyone ever been able to verify this profile with a photo or any other evidence? The author was D.Y. Louie and the article was "Chinese Bombers 1910-1961".

        thanks for the reference. I agree about DY. He was the one who told me about Chinese Harriers, which turned out to be true.

                IIRC, the PLAAF was looking to buy some used first gen Harriers from the RAF. The deal seemed to go nowhere, and the Tiananmin Square events pretty much killed it.
