Grain Valley steals the show (literally)

Found out at MCCGA Champs that Grain Valley's guard show was an EXACT copy of Lakota West 2010:

Yes- same floor, flags, costumes, music, staging AND choreography! Not "inspired by" but a complete copy of that show... Disappointing to say the least.

Anyone ever seen someone copy a complete show before like this????

    It is no disrespect to the students that worked hard to learn the show, it goes to tell a lot about the directors that couldn't come up with a great idea or even make one they saw their own

      Edwardsville wasn't an exact copy. Blue Springs South however was.

        a lot of groups these days are buying shows. There isn't a rule against it so why not if they want to do that? However, on a personal level I think that takes a layer of the fun out of the show.

                The issue is that, unlike concert band, half the guard's score is based on the design of the show. If that is copied, then that group gets an advantage. This is competitive art, not just performance... more
