  • Grain Valley steals the show (literally)Anonymous, Thu Mar 29 12:50pm
Found out at MCCGA Champs that Grain Valley's guard show was an EXACT copy of Lakota West 2010: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSOu2i4Jrnw Yes- same floor, flags, costumes, music, staging AND... more
    • Re: Grain Valley steals the show (literally)Anonymous, Thu Apr 5 1:30pm
Actually it wasn't an exact copy of anything. The kids at Lakota West were far more trained and experienced and able to handle much more difficult staging and choreography. Flags and costumes were... more

You're right, there may have been 64 counts of "original" choreography or staging in there. But when every event is staged and choreographed identical to the Lakota West show, that's copying. Even... more

Lord....please take all bitchy/whiny/jealous/petty color guard people out of our lives forever and ever. Amen
          • Re: Close enoughAnonymous, Fri Apr 6 10:31am
Unfortunately, I loved this show but it was copied. No one can deny that. The costumes were exact copies, the flags that say "Flag" were exact copies, the flags that say "These Are Very Tacky" were... more

...but what other kind of colorguard people are there?

The other issue is that they didn't give the people they took it from any credit. They said that they designed the show and it was their idea. I just think its a little sad that can't be more... more
    • Re: Grain Valley steals the show (literally)Anonymous, Wed Apr 4 10:33am
It is no disrespect to the students that worked hard to learn the show, it goes to tell a lot about the directors that couldn't come up with a great idea or even make one they saw their own
    • Re: Grain Valley steals the show (literally)Anonymous, Tue Apr 3 2:17am
I realize alot of people take ideas/concepts and tweak them to make them their own idea but I would have to agree with the initial post. Doing EVERYTHING the same from the costumes to the... more

Considering they WON, that pisses me off. I thought it was a great idea until I saw that.

      WOW,,, interesting
    • Re: Grain Valley steals the show (literally)Anonymous, Thu Mar 29 10:39pm
There is so much pettiness and stupidity in this post I just can't waste any more time typing about
    • Re: Grain Valley steals the show (literally)Anonymous, Thu Mar 29 1:46pm
      Worth the wait. Period.
      • Re: Grain Valley steals the show (literally)Anonymous, Thu Mar 29 5:11pm
Edwardsville wasn't an exact copy. Blue Springs South however was.
        • Re: Grain Valley steals the show (literally)Anonymous, Fri Mar 30 1:06am
a lot of groups these days are buying shows. There isn't a rule against it so why not if they want to do that? However, on a personal level I think that takes a layer of the fun out of the show.
          • Re: Grain Valley steals the show (literally)Anonymous, Fri Mar 30 6:15am
This has been happening for years people. Decades in the mb world. When someone does a cav's show we just say why bother it will never be as cool as when so and so did it. What is the difference now? ... more

Did you see when the FHN theater department did Guys and Dolls? They totally ripped that from broadway. Of course, they didn't do it as well. Those theater department directors are only hurting their ... more

Well said and thank you! If we listened to these yahoos we would never hear a band play again. Because everything is a rip off. You all need to quit your bitching. Those kids worked their butts off... more
                • The issueAnonymous, Tue Apr 3 8:35am
The issue is that, unlike concert band, half the guard's score is based on the design of the show. If that is copied, then that group gets an advantage. This is competitive art, not just performance... more
                • Re: Grain Valley steals the show (literally)Anonymous, Mon Apr 2 5:43pm
No one could consider that a new show. It doesn't matter who does it. It's a new show once.
            • That was scaryAnonymous, Fri Mar 30 11:47am
I can't even begin to decipher that. You HAVE to learn to organize your thoughts better.
