The issue is that, unlike concert band, half the guard's score is based on the design of the show. If that is copied, then that group gets an advantage. This is competitive art, not just performance art. There is no way for the judges to know a show is copied, so we have to police ourselves.
The sad part is there are an unlimited number of ways to perform a creative program without simply copying it off the Internet. Why not just do it the way you're supposed to do it?

It is no disrespect to the students that worked hard to learn the show, it goes to tell a lot about the directors that couldn't come up with a great idea or even make one they saw their own
