Interesting post, Harold. I think in most shows back then, sitcoms anyway, while people might not have been shown actually going to church, they were more often portrayed as behaving as church-going people would (or should might be a better word!). The Andy Griffith Show was a little later and I do remember occasional church scenes there.

I have a dim memory of the Molly Goldberg show, but don't remember if there were ever scenes at a temple, I just remember Molly talking through the open window.

Today one of the few shows that regularly shows the family at church is The Simpsons! Of course, there's a comic twist to that, but they *are* seen at church.
