Devon and Joe
Like a candy shop for grown-ups

Devon ignored every word Eve said, now that Joe was present. The man could be genial to Eve as much as he liked, but Devon was by no means fooled. Eve loathed Joe, blamed him personally for the death of her old friend, a tragic series of events that Devon couldn't remember one second of, having spent the entire evening passed out on the floor of the vacant Cerise.

Joe smiled at Eve's compliment, giving a little shrug and taking his untouched hand back. He shot Devon a small look that said, Well, we seem to be making some progress, anyway!, and put his own hands in his pockets, a policeman's way of making Eve feel more comfortable.

"She's ecstatic for the Quidditch season," he chuckled, "No idea where she got that one. I never got too far in the sport." He shrugged, and laughed.

"Or her boggling obsession with Quesne," Devon added, a slight smile to his lips. Joe had the same calming effect on Erin as he did on her brother. Devon nearly seemed human in the other man's presence.

"That!" Joe laughed, and turned to Eve, explaining with a grin, "The whole family's from Rakin. Myself, Devon, Erin, but Madison Connor just up and decided she was a Quesne girl. We had to decorate her whole room in orange." He shook his head, still chuckling. "How are things here?" he asked, directing the question at both Eve and Devon. "Cassandra holding up okay?"
