Evelyn, Dom and Gilly
Good question...
Tue Oct 12, 2010 2:09pm

Evelyn smiled when she heard Willow firmly expressing her approval that neither Dom nor his relative were the slightest bit interested in each other. On the other hand, she also felt kind of sad for Willow - it must be hard knowing that your boyfriend's parents kept trying to arrange a marriage for him to one of his cousins.
Dom raised his eyebrows at Willow. "It's ok," he joked. "I'm not planning a betrothal anytime soon. I want to finish school first." He smiled and squeezed her hand.

Gilly gave Evelyn a shrewd, calculating look. He'd seen this before, when Fred had got his first girlfriend. Yes... either she was love-sick or she was in love. Gilly faked a smile. Despite trying his hardest to be the best friend Evelyn ever had (better than Willow even - Willow Clay would never get anyone connections with the Robeless in a thousand years! They hated her, for God's sake!) it was painful to think that Evelyn might possibly have found a boyfriend before Gilly himself. Ouch. He was almost dreading the end of the feast, when Evelyn would tell him every single insignificant detail of her rose-tinted summer. Gilly looked glumly down at his plate and muttered, "Pork and roast potatoes."

Evelyn saw Willow raise an eyebrow and smiled sweetly. "I'll tell you in a bit," she mouthed. If Willow remembered for that long. She watched Willow and Dom laughing at Willow's sister's forcing Willow into a make-over, chuckling quietly herself. She could just imagine Jenna forcing Willow into a chair, scissors at the ready and make-up everywhere. So un-Willow Evelyn could hardly believe Willow had even let her sister do it, instead of putting some kind of charm on herself so she couldn't be jumped on by passing make-up artists. Peraps Jenna was superhumanly strong.

"A garden on top of you roof?" Dom repeated. Mind you, he thought, this was Willow. Perhaps her parents were even crazier than her. "Yeah," he added in reply to her question about his summer. "On the other hand, my mother fainting in a hedge was pretty entertaining."

"Good," Willow said, a little more violently than she meant to. Damn it, she needed to stop being so protective over him. Dom could look after himself. If he didn't want to have an arranged marriage, ... more

"Okay," Willow said, returning the squeeze. She stared at her food, not that hungry any more, and pushed the plate away. She smiled and looked around the hall, looking at the people she recognised... more
