Marissa could tell that her shivering was making Danny feel uncomfortable or something. She was a good actress. She wasn’t the best – she’d never do fancy stuff like her mom did, and she didn’t want to- but she could have been in Lyra. Really, Marissa wasn’t that cold. If the wind blew, there was certainly a brief moment of chilliness, but she was absolutely playing up the shivering. Now that they were working together, trying to make him feel guilty was the only way she could mess with him!

He seemed to agree with her that using each other to climb the wall was the best option. Marissa knew she’d be the one to go first, but she wasn’t too sure how she’d be able to get him to follow. She was stronger than she looked, which was good. She’d danced for all of her life, worked out a bit, and was the Aquila Quidditch captain. She was a Chaser, so her upper strength wasn’t as there as a Beater’s would be.

When Marissa’s green eyes left the wall and looked back at Danny, the first thing she noticed was that he was suddenly shirtless.

Oh, boy.

His yellow shirt was in her hands, and he told her to put it on. Marissa paused for a moment before putting a shirt that was, knowing the little she knew about Danny’s family, probably more expensive than all of her clothes put together. Marissa grinned at him. It was a really comfy shirt, a thoughtful gesture, and very entertaining proof that she got to him. And Marissa definitely wasn’t complaining about his lack of a shirt.

Really, she wasn’t complaining at all.

You stand on my shoulders and see if you can pull yourself up.”

“I can definitely pull myself up.” The concern, really, was what was going to happen after. Still, she could only control what was happening right then. She climbed on his shoulders and, after getting her grip, she pulled herself up to the top. It wasn’t easy, and it took her a few seconds longer than she thought it would. After she stretched her arms for a brief second, she turned herself around and leaned back over to the side that Danny was on. She reached out her right hand to him.

“Grab on,” She called down, “I think we can get you up here.”

Maybe it took them a couple of tries, but with their combined strength and some effort, she managed to get him to the top of the wall. Once he was there, Marissa took a second to catch her breath. She looked over at Danny, still noticing the blood from his lip. He’d been nice and giving her his shirt; she should be nice too.

“Here,” Marissa moved as close as she could and leaned in. Just when it seemed she was too close to not do something like kiss him, she lifted her hand and very gently wiped a small bit of blood from his chin with her thumb. “I’m sorry about your lip. Really. If I can make it up to you, just say the word.” Then, Marissa looked down at the other side of the wall. “Any thoughts for how we’re getting down? Looks like we’re close to the end.”

How was she still cold? The water from his charm but have been icy . If he’d have known that, Danny wasn’t sure he would have gone through with it. Maybe. Dardanius himself was actually pretty warm,... more

Once Marissa was in his shoulders, Danny shakily stood, using the sheer face of the wall for support, raising his companion sufficiently that she could haul herself onto the top of the wall. That was ... more
