You Cathy Spude, are a liar.
She knows it, so I say the following to those who are interested. When I first met Cathy, via email, in 2006 she did not believe that anyone other than Frank Reid killed my great-grandfather. I remember her using the National Park Service records and the two city newspapers as her basis for not accepting my research. After some time she finally came around that it was possible. Besides all the information from Murphy himself, there are two letters from Sam Steele of the North-West Mounted Police. I don't need to go into the details in the letter except to say that they were a key find as the information comes from J. M. Tanner. Anyway, about 1987, after my father had passed away, I received a letter from a Canadian librarian who came across the Steele documents by accident. No one had ever published them.
In 2006 I mentioned the Steele letters to Cathy and she wanted me to give her copies. I explained that I could not do this as it was a big selling point for my bibliography. She promised me that she would not publish them as she was not writing a book on Soapy Smith. That she only wanted them for her files. When I again denied her request she began a barrage of nasty emails (which I saved). She got way out of hand and...
This is why I had to ban her from corresponding to me any longer. A couple of years later she obviously found the letters and posted one on her website. She is claiming her years of research uncovered these facts... Bull-pucky!
Now, at 660 pages and 24-years of research I know that my book will shine brightly on its own accord, however, I have witnessed how upsetting it can be to historians here on this board when years of hard work/research are intentionally claimed by another. I know some of you that have gone through this sort of thing can understand my anger.
I can only imagine that she is waiting for my book to come out so she can grab information from it and attempt to claim it as well.
Go ahead Cathy, see how many people you can fool.
